Quality & compliance
Certifications, labels and regulatory compliance
Every destination market has its own rules. Exporting organic fruit and vegetables from Morocco to the European Union, Canada or the Gulf requires specific certifications — and the label required by one market is not accepted by another.
Our selected suppliers hold the certifications required for each destination market. We coordinate which label applies, which accredited body certifies the farm and the packing station, and which documents travel with the shipment.
Required label
Which certification does your destination market require?
The Moroccan national label “Bio Maroc”, governed by Law 39-13, regulates domestic production. On its own it does not authorise export: you need a certification body (OCC) accredited in Morocco to obtain the label required by your destination.
European Union
Mandatory — EU Organic (Eurofeuille). Production must strictly comply with EU Regulation 2018/848. Registration and the issue of the Certificate of Inspection (COI) are handled digitally through the EU TRACES platform.
Canada
Mandatory — Canada Organic (CAN/CGSB). Fruit and vegetables must meet the Canadian organic standards (CAN/CGSB-32.310). Note: the EU–Canada equivalence agreement can sometimes simplify the process when the product is already certified under European rules.
Gulf countries (GCC)
Variable — Saudi Organic & local frameworks. Saudi Arabia, the largest market in the zone, imposes its own national “Saudi Organic” label through locally accredited certifiers. For the other GCC states (UAE, Qatar…), international labels such as EU Organic or USDA Organic are widely accepted, completed by the standard phytosanitary requirements.
Who certifies
Who certifies, and who validates
Export involves two levels of organisation: state institutions, for customs and legal conformity, and private certification bodies, for issuing the labels.
State bodies in Morocco
- ONSSA (Office National de Sécurité Sanitaire des Aliments) — regulates organic farming in Morocco, issues the health approvals required for packing stations and validates the phytosanitary certificates needed for any export.
- Morocco Foodex (EACCE) — the autonomous export control and coordination body. It ensures technical conformity, commercial quality, fresh produce calibration, and validates the export documents.
Approved certification bodies
To use the EU Organic, Canadian or Saudi logos on your packaging, farms and packing stations must be audited by independent third-party bodies accredited in Morocco:
- Ecocert Maroc
- Bureau Veritas Maroc
- CCPB Maroc
- Sygma Certification
Retail requirements
Beyond the organic label itself, European, Canadian and Gulf retail chains almost always require:
- GLOBALG.A.P. (IFA) — the international standard required by supermarkets for food safety and farm-level traceability.
- GRASP (GLOBALG.A.P. module) — increasingly required in Europe to evidence social criteria and agricultural labour rights.
- SMETA / Sedex or BRCGS / IFS — packing-station food safety and ethical trading aspects.
Our method
How we handle a certified shipment
Four steps, and you know at each one which document you are waiting for.
01
You tell us the market and the product
Destination country, species and volume. We identify the label your market requires and the accredited body that must issue it.
02
We select a supplier that already holds it
Within our network, we work with growers and packing stations that already carry the certification required for your destination — so you do not start a certification process from zero.
03
We assemble the documents
Organic certificate, phytosanitary certificate and the Certificate of Inspection required by your market, prepared for the destination you named.
04
They travel with the shipment
At the port of exit, the Certificate of Inspection and the phytosanitary certificate are the two documents customs asks for first. They are prepared before loading, not afterwards.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask us
Is the Moroccan “Bio Maroc” label enough to export to Europe?
No. “Bio Maroc”, governed by Law 39-13, regulates domestic production in Morocco. For export you need the label required by your destination market, issued by a certification body accredited in Morocco.
Which label does the European Union require?
The EU Organic label (Eurofeuille), under Regulation (EU) 2018/848. Registration and the Certificate of Inspection (COI) are handled digitally through the EU TRACES platform.
Do you hold the organic certification yourselves?
Our selected suppliers hold the certifications required for each destination market. We coordinate which label applies, which accredited body certifies the farm and the packing station, and which documents accompany the shipment.
Are GLOBALG.A.P. and GRASP required for organic products?
Not for the organic label itself — that is a separate certification. But most European, Canadian and Gulf retail chains require them before accepting the product into their stores, so in practice they are almost always needed alongside the organic label.
What if I ship to a market that is not listed here?
Tell us the destination. Requirements differ from one market to another, and we check the specific requirements with an accredited certification body before confirming what is available for your product.
Certification requirements evolve. Confirm the current requirements with your destination-market authority before shipping.
